Faith is the Victory Part I

Faith is the Victory
Part I
(Hebrews 11)

The key component to our walk with God is FAITH!

Today we will look at five of those facets found in Hebrews 11.

I. FAITH IS BELIEVING WHEN YOU CAN’T SEE.  Vs. 1
A.  “We walk by faith not by sight.”  (I Cor. 5:7)
B.  “The just shall live by faith.” (Romans 1: 17)
C.    Paul uses faith as a “temperature reading” for the spiritual
health of the church. (I Thessalonians 3)

II. FAITH IS OBEYING WHEN YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND.
A.   (Hebrews 11: 7-8)
B.   Faith always involves risk.
C.   We should have a “bias for action” mentality.

III. FAITH IS GIVING WHEN YOU DON’T HAVE IT TO GIVE.
A.   (Hebrews 11: 4)
B.   God doesn’t call us to give equal gifts.  He calls for equal sacrifice.

IV. FAITH IS PERSISTING WHEN YOU DON’T FEEL LIKE IT.
A.   Moses would have rather God ask him to do anything rather than
what he did.  (Hebrews 11: 24-27)
B.   If you look at the world, you will be distressed.  If you look within,
you will be depressed, but if you look to God, you will be at rest.

V.  FAITH IS TRUSTING GOD IF YOU DON’T GET IT.
A.   (Hebrews 11: 39-40)

Over the next few Sundays I want us to all stretch our faith and trust in God, who does supply our needs.  We must realize that God will build our faith in two ways:  1. through His Word.  (Jeremiah 31: 33)
      2. through trials and testing. “Knowing that the testing of your faith develops patience.” (James1: 3)
